In the end it's all about the sound system. I personally use an S4 MK2, Mackie ProFx8 mixer, a 15" EV sub, and two QSC 12.2 speakers. I've seen guys in my company rock weddings with the old Denon MC3000's as well as the first gen Traktor S2. A $200 mixing board will do a lot more than buying a $1000 controller for some extra volume. The only benefits to me are the extra functionality of other components on the S4.Ĭonsider getting higher end speakers or a mixing board to amplify the sound more. Switching decks constantly, it's easy to get lost, maybe with some more practice it would be alright, but I'll pass. Sure 4 channels might be nice, but I've been DJing for 5 years and rarely touch them because it's too inconvenient. Are you working a club, wedding, party, or just mixing in your bedroom? If it's the just bedroom DJing I'd just stick with the S2, it's versatile enough and there's other equipment to get or upgrade first. If instead you mean the overall sound output when plugged into a sound system is low, then you need to check a few things.Īre you playing from small studio monitors or big amplified speakers?Īre you using an external sound mixing board to give extra volume control and EQ?Ĭonsider using an RCA to 1/4" cable, most higher end speakers and mixing boards use XLR's or 1/4" cables.Īlso consider the situation you are using your controller in. If the volume output you are talking about is the cue volume, then there's nothing you can do but turn up the gain on each channel.
